Founded on September 2, 1973, CORR-The Jute Works is a registered Fair Trade Trust and a pioneer member of the World Fair Trade Organization. Based in Bangladesh, the organization was created in the aftermath of the 1971 War of Independence to help support war widows, war victims, and marginalized rural women through meaningful handicraft work.
What began as a small training effort soon grew into a larger cooperative model focused exclusively on women artisans. Over the years, CORR-The Jute Works has helped build export markets for handcrafted jute and other handmade goods, creating fair wage opportunities for rural women and supporting its long-standing mission of “trade, not aid.”
